Carried Through Miscarriage

In an effort to keep both my doula blog and my personal blog up to date, I want to post here the latest news in our blessed little family.

On Tuesday, April 19, our tiny little baby was born.

PRAISES:

There are a number of God's miracles we've experienced:

(not in any order...well, kind of)

-Heaven is more real, more tangible, to me now than it ever has been before.

-The baby was born, both intact and easily identifiable, despite what we were told. 

-We have one last ultrasound picture, from April 18, the day we found out our baby had died.

-My husband...my amazing husband, is more attractive to me now than he's ever been!!  He has been absolutely amazing. 

-My husband and I had music playing, and we were together to see the birth of our baby, just like our other children.

-Obstacles to having a proper burial were lifted.

-We were able to have a proper burial.

-We had a professional photographer, Kathy Disney, capture the difficult, mixed feelings of the funeral, through amazing photography.  Thank you so very much Kathy.

-We shared our story online, as it was happening.  We did not allow the reality of our baby's life and death to be minimized or silenced.

-(as I write this) Over 4,000 views of the story have been made, from all over the world.

-Awareness of the need of miscarriage support is growing.  Kim James, of DoulaMatch.net, has updated doula profile choices to include miscarriage support (if you are a doula, you'll need to update your profile on her site.  Click DoulaMatch to be taken there now.

-I created a Facebook note entitled "How to be a Miscarriage Doula" which is circulating the web and raising awareness.

-Nurses and OBs are working on sharing information (anonymously) to help with my new website (there will be a disclaimer to consult care provider regarding any clinical information).

-Friends are helping research all miscarriage related media, grading the appropriateness and effectiveness of the material.

-We found a web designer who also has experienced infant loss, and is offering professional service with a discount for our cause.

-The fundraiser to support the financial cost of the website is nearly ready to begin.

-The cost of the P.O. Box has been covered by two darling women.

-Emails from bereaved mothers, sharing their experiences, continue to flood my email account.

-Christians and Non-Christians alike are thanking me for giving a voice to their lost children.

-A little of a personal note: I found THE most perfect little necklace at WalMart.  It's from Hallmark, and it has a tiny silver heart, with a tiny diamond (not real) tucked inside one of the top corners.  Because our tiny baby was born in April, his birthstone is diamond.  The necklace is amazingly representative of our last ultrasound picture of our sweet little baby.  I marvel at God's little gifts.  :)



-Prayer and encouragement continue to cover my family, and our project.
